In the northern state of Bihar a child was born with an extra pair of arms and legs. The parents called her Lakshmi.People hailed her as the reincarnation of the multi-limbed goddess of wealth-Lakshmi.
The child did not have mythological significance, but she had a partially developed twin.
Last week a team of surgeons in Bangalore removed her limbs and performed a successful operation to separate her spinal column and kidney from her twin.
Even Lakshmi have to be re-adjusted in the modern world.
