Imaginary Enemy & Swedish Surveillance Law

All the shops were closed and the streets were deserted. If not for the football gathering in Kungsträdgården,Stockholm would look like a ghost town.
It seems the life shifted to the countryside.People danced around the midsummer poles, ate specially prepared herring fish with boiled fresh potatoes, strawberries as a dessert and drank cold beer and schnapps.
The celebrations have almost reached to its end.
While people were busy in midsummer preparations,The Swedish parliament approved the surveillance law, which allowed a civilian institution,National Defence Radio Establishment to tape all cross-border telephone and Internet communication. From January 2009 every telephone conversation would be taped, every E-mail letter and fax would be read. Each site the people visit, each word people google would be recorded. All that is to protect Sweden against foreign threats and cyber warfare.
143 Parliament members robbed the civil liberties of the nation in the broad daylight.
Sweden is approaching towards dark.It was No Happy Midsummer.

First France, then Netherlands and now Ireland.3 failed referendums in 3 years on EU treaty.
Ireland’s rejection is a declaration that patchwork is not effective.
Brussels has to come with entirely new and credible concept.

Unicorn born in Italy

We heard a lot about mystical Unicorn, who had magical healing powers.Yesterday this mythological character appeared in shape of a deer in our real world.A single - horned deer was born in captivity in the research centre’s park near Florence,Italy. The deer was named Unicorn and it does not have any magical healing power. It is born with a genetic flaw.

The fall of Nepal's dynasty & the rise of Maoist rebels

Last month Nepal’s assembly voted to abolish the monarchy.Today the king Gyanendra and his wife Komal moved out from the palace in Kathmandu where his family lived more than a century. There were no tears and no emotional farewell;Nepalese believe that king Gyanendra engineered the palace massacre of 2001,which brought him to the throne.

It is end of the dynasty, beginning of the new era.Nepalese believe the king and his family brought poverty to them and the Maoist rebels are to bring comforts and prosperity in their life.
From kingship to Maoism - we have heard it before. We have experienced it.
Nepal – Beware lest you should be cheated.

Something has seriously gone wrong in the world.
We are sowing and reaping violence.

Dublin Diplomatic Conference signs a treaty

109 Nations attended a conference in Dublin and signed a treaty to ban cluster bombs.
Sadly the main manufacturers and users of cluster bombs – USA, Russia, China and Israel were not involved in the treaty.Even without the involvement of top dogs, such treaty is a right step towards the right direction.
